1940s to 1960s

During World War 2, the orchestra continued playing with the exception of 1940. It’s activities were more restricted but they contributed to community morale by performing works by British composers including William Boyce, Percy Fletcher and the local contemporary composers Benjamin Britten and Roger Quilter.



as well others by as J S Bach, Percy Granger, Edvard Grieg, Asger Hamerik, G F Handel, Mozart, Schumann and Tchaikowski.
